![]() ![]() Have fun with your Aquaticos and be careful not to break them! There were lightfastness and lead breaking problems with Softcolors, as lovely as they otherwise were, and Stabilo probably wanted to concentrate on felt-tip pens and entry-level colour pencils (of which Aquacolor in 36 colours is now the best it has to offer and it’s by no means bad – it’s a shame they don’t come in 48 or 60 colours!) leaving only their CarbOthello “coloured charcoals” for artists. ![]() There were probably 60 of them and most likely they were meant as a water-soluble sister of artist-level Softcolors but at some time in the late 1990s or early 2000s Stabilo decided to drop both of them. My knowledge of Aquaticos is as limited as yours – I’ve never ever touched one of them. Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of pencils! Just can’t bear the thought of being without. I wish F-C had done the new Goldfabers as a set of 60, like the F-C SoftGrip set they seem to have replaced.Īn interesting note about Goldfabers – thanks! The Talens Van Goghs are available in Helsinki right now and I think I have to get them. I kit-bashed a 72-color set from the two that’s become my favorite outdoors set. On a sub-related note, the newer Faber-Castel ‘Goldfaber’ watercolour pencils (48) are a good supplement to the Staedtler Karat 60 set. Not bad at all, but neither of them are as useful and satisfying as the Staedtler Karat or the K-i-N Mondeluz sets. ![]() They are very similar in color selection and feel to the Sakura-Bruynzeel Design aquarelles, though not quite identical. On a related note, I have the Sakura-Talens Van Gogh watercolor pencils (set of 60) you linked to in another recent post. So there is some kind of synchronicity going on between Bruynzeel and Marco Renoir. Not directly on point, but I can confirm that the 48 Marco Renoir watercolor pencils match the 48 Sakura-Bruynzeel Design Aquarelles, having swatched them both. This would mean that the Fullcolors are still alive as Bruynzeel Design Colours and Marco Renoirs. Doesn’t the colour selection look very much alike the Marco Renoir 100 colour set? ![]()
